Destiny Office Testing
Destiny Office Testing
Each secretary planning to join the FSI team will go though the process of Destiny Office Testing. This new exciting recruitment method will allow us to ensure that every employee within our team is achieving the high standard that FSI strives for.
What is Destiny Office?
Destiny Office is an online testing package, designed by Reed Employment and Oxford Psychologists’ Press. It comprises three separate tests: File it, Follow it and Read it. The overall aim of the tests is to measure people’s ability to work under pressure (as the tests are timed) and some basic administrative capabilities. So, 'File it' tests people’s ability to find information and file it in the correct place, 'Follow it' tests people’s ability to check for errors and 'Read it' checks people’s ability to check for spelling and grammatical errors.
Why use Destiny Office?
Testing with Destiny allows FSI to supplement biographical data from cv’s and interviews with some objective data. The use of objective testing helps to increase the likelihood that we will select the right candidate for each role.
What happens when people are tested?
A candidate will take the test at FSI in a quiet place without interruptions. The tests are timed and the whole process takes no longer than 45 minutes. Testing will take place before selection for second interview.
Can candidates prepare?
There is no specific preparation to be done prior to coming in, but each test has its own trial questions for the candidate to try out before beginning the timed section of the test.
Candidates can prepare by ensuring that they get a good night’s sleep before the testing and need to bring with them their glasses if they need them.
The tests are done in English, so if English is not the candidate’s first language, or if the candidate is dyslexic then they should advise us as soon as possible before the test so appropriate arrangements can be made.
Is there a pass mark?
We want to take the best candidates for any particular role, and for us that is a mixture of their personal fit with the fee earner interviewing for the post, selection by HR and the results of the test. However it is our policy not to proceed with a candidate who scores below average (50%) in any one of the tests. So we expect a score of at least 50% in all three of the tests.
Who do we ask if we have questions?
Emma Rush is our Head of Training and is qualified with the British Psychological Society to administer the tests and interpret the results. If you have any questions she will be happy to help. Her direct dial is 0207 344 5315.
