Robert specialises in intellectual property (advisory, commercial and contentious) and related media work including data protection, advertising and sales promotion.
Robert has a particular interest in entertainment and convergence (between traditionally separate industries in relation to the delivery of electronic content, be it film, TV, publishing, gambling or other multimedia), and also advises a great number of brands and fashion industry clients.
Robert is a voting member of BAFTA and the Brits and sits on the Advisory Board of Braziers International Artists Workshop.

- Advising AIM listed Interactive World plc on the intellectual property aspects of its circa £50 million conditional acquisition of Sport Newspapers Limited from David Sullivan, David Gold and Ralph Gold
- Advising Simon Carter Accessories Ltd on a number of new licences including a franchise agreement with Moss Bros to open Simon Carter stores
- Advising Lions Gate Entertainment Inc. and Lions Gate Films Inc in respect of various IP infringement claims
- Advising Amnesty International in relation to their “Make Some Noise” campaign
- Advising members of the Association of Illustrators in respect of contracts and copyright matters
- Advising the Arts Council England on the intellectual property aspects of various projects
- Advising Bankside Films Limited on the acquisition and exploitation of new media rights in films
- Advising Base London Limited on licensing, brand promotion and agency agreements
- Negotiating agreement for the operation of Fashion TV Russia and related merchandising
- Pursuing infringers of the seminal computer game “Tetris” on behalf of The Tetris Company LLC
- Advising in the successful defence of well known high street store in a passing off / trade mark infringement action
Recent Articles/Speaking Engagements
Robert speaks regularly on intellectual property matters as diverse as Rights Issues in User Generated Content Websites (SIIA Conference, Berlin) and the pitfalls of Celebrity Endorsement (CLT Conference, London). He also lectures annually at the Royal College of Art and the Royal Academy Schools.
He is a contributing author of Engelman’s IP Update and is currently contributing to a handbook to be published by the European Patent Office later this year.
