Nisha Aggarwal

Trainee Solicitor

BEFORE FSI

Nisha studied Law and Business Joint Honours at Warwick University before completing her LPC at the College of Law.  She began working as a paralegal in the property department at FSI in July 2006 assisting in post-completion matters and the Olympic project.  She was offered a training contract a few months later and began life as a trainee in September 2007.

SEATS COMPLETED

Nisha has completed her first seat in the Company Commercial department where she gained experience in a wide variety of corporate work including being part of the team advising on the sale of UK-based Essential Lighting Group Limited to Australian publicly listed Staging Connections Group and dealing with the refinance of a large plc by Alliance & Leicester. This involved pulling together several departments across different law firms to deal with the property and corporate issues that arose.  She has also been involved in an AIM placing and several share sales, one of which involved a considerable amount of work from different jurisdictions.

Whilst in her second seat in the Family Department, Nisha worked as part of the team dealing with mostly divorce cases and financial proceedings.  She attended court with Counsel and had an active involvement in First Appointment hearings and Financial Dispute Resolution hearings as well as several settlement negotiations.  Her primary work was based around the ancillary relief proceedings and working closely with clients to prepare their financial disclosures.
 
She is now in her third seat in the Intellectual Property and Media department where she is involved in a case regarding an interlocutory injunction to be heard in front of the Privy Council, as well a Human Rights case based on unreasonable delay in proceedings and a Data Protection matter.  She is also dealing with a potential defamation case.

OTHER
 
Nisha is a committee member of the West London Law Society Trainee and Young Solicitors Group, which aims to develop relationships between London-based legal professionals and professionals of other related disciplines. She is also a member of FSI's social committee, FX.
