Ashley specialises in all forms of public company fundraising work which includes advising on the Listing Rules for companies quoted on the Official List as well as advising companies seeking admission to AIM and PLUS Market. In particular he has developed a reputation for the raising of finance for small to medium sized companies. Ashley frequently advises brokers, nominated advisers and issuers themselves on AIM flotations and his clients include JM Finn Capital Markets Limited, Daniel Stewart & Company Plc, Dowgate Capital Advisers Limited, Seymour Pierce Limited and Evolution Securities China Limited.
Ashley is involved in all forms of corporate transactions and in particular advises on the sale and purchase of both companies and businesses. He is also experienced in corporate re-organisations including reduction of share capital and schemes of arrangement. Ashley frequently advises clients on joint venture arrangements including shareholders' subscription agreements together with all associated share rights. He also has a specialisation in the area of share option schemes including advising on employee benefit trusts, approved share schemes and the enterprise management incentives legislation.
In 2006, Ashley appeared in the top ten for legal advisers to AIM in Legal Business.

- Advising AIM listed Sport Media Group plc on its circa £50 million conditional acquisition of Sport Newspapers Limited from David Sullivan, David Gold and Ralph Gold together with its £43.7 million placing of new shares.
- Advising AIM listed Mirada Plc on an £8.6 million placing of new ordinary shares, the acquisition of Fresh Technologies S.A. and a capital reorganisation.
- Advising Daniel Stewart & Company Plc on a placing and the readmission to trading on AIM of AIM traded companies EKAY Plc and Network Group Holdings Plc..
- Advising JMFinn Capital Markets Limited on the admission to trading on AIM of Minoan Group Plc.
- Advising AIM listed ADDleisure on £6.7 million investment by BUPA
- Advising Asgard (a fund managed by AXA Real Estate Managers Limited) and CareCapital Group Plc on their £7.5 million placings and admission to AIM
- Advising AIM listed Red Squared Plc on a cash offer made for its entire issued share capital by Xploite Plc.
- Advising JMFinn Capital Markets Limited on a £3.5 million placing of new ordinary shares for Kiotech International Plc, an AIM listed biotechnology company, in a transaction which constituted a reverse takeover under the AIM rules
