Alan Kaufman

Partner: Head of Family

Alan specialises in heavy weight family law disputes. He has had many years experience acting in multi-million pound matrimonial settlements and acts for wealthy businessmen, particularly in the property industry, and high profile media, entertainment and sports personalities.

He is a trained mediator having been taught his mediation skills by the New York Mediation Group and he is also a trained Collaborative Lawyer.

He also has extensive commercial litigation experience and expertise (including shareholders and partnership disputes, copyright and property related litigation). This means he is able to bring his commercial acumen as an added value element to matrimonial financial settlement negotiations.

In 2005, Alan was elected a Fellow of the prestigious International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and in 2008 he was admitted as a member of the prestigious group of collaborative lawyers known as the Central London Collaborative Forum, which comprises all London's leading divorce lawyers.

Recent Work
  • Alan's increasingly international related family law work is demonstrated by his recent conclusion of a financial settlement in a high profile media celebrity case which involved the Irish Courts and Irish advisors as well as the English Court. He was also the lead member of the team dealing with a leading reported case involving the legal and enforcement systems of various countries across the world including England, Pakistan, USA and Hong Kong
  • Alan and his team are receiving a greatly increased flow of work in connection with Pre Nuptial agreements. He has just completed work in connection with such an agreement between a Texan resident and an English resident. The parties will be living in England and an agreement was drawn up with the assistance of Texas lawyers such that the agreement is subject to Texas law but is meant to be enforceable across the world including England. He has also recently completed work on a Pre Nuptial agreement involving a super wealthy husband fund manager and his lawyer wife involving an agreement to cover the jurisdictions of US, Hong Kong, Canada, Japan and England
