Mark Stephens in The Guardian commenting on privacy law in the aftermath of John Terry

Mark Stephens comments in The Guardian on the aftermath of the John Terry case. Mark said that at the heart of the current questions about celebrity, privacy and the press is the fact that "jurisprudence around privacy is frankly gobbledygook". The privacy law is not set out in a detailed statute but evolves from one case to the next, whether that be due to the European court of human rights, UK judges or "ambulance-chasing claimant lawyers who want to push forward the boundaries of privacy and draw an even greater veil over what goes on".

Mark Stephens comments in the EU Observer on East European criminals and politicians taking 'libel tourism' trips to UK.

Mark explained how things have accelerated in the last few years. "It really started off [in the 1950s], with Liberace suing over accusations that he was a homosexual, which he won. This opened the floodgates to a large number of celebrities doing the same thing for many years. This died away more recently when they began to realise that it was cheaper and more effective to spend a million on a PR man than a team of lawyers, and with much less reputational damage,"
