Photographers are a particularly prevalent part of our IP Media client base. This is because we have advised the likes of BAPLA and CEPIC for more than a decade, ensuring photographers as well as picture libraries have the right protections in place to maximise their income streams.

Our service:

Photographers and picture libraries choose to work with FSI because:

  • of our track record in the sector
  • we have established industry best practice when it comes to photographic rights and have provided significant advice to BAPLA on this
  • our passion for all aspects of the arts
  • our understanding of the needs of creative individuals
  • we are seen as industry leaders and as such are frequently approached to speak at key events, for example, CEPIC's annual conference

RECENT EXPERIENCE ADVISING:

  • Nature Picture Library on commercial agreements and dealing with disputes and copying of images from websites
  • Rex Features on agreements and dealing with disputes and copying of images from websites
  • Science Photo Library on a claim against the European Commission for unauthorised photograph of Watson and Crick (famous scientists) which had been modified to show them naked thus amounting to defamation and breach of the photographer’s moral rights and infringement of copyright.  Negotiating and obtaining apology, withdrawal of images and damages
  • Solve Sundsbo on an infringement of copyright on behalf of a well known photographer, including claims against Coca-Cola for use of client’s lips image in an advertising campaign
  • Arcaid on copyright and contract issues arising from the sale of a picture library and archive
  • Abode Interiors Picture Library on model releases and property releases
  • Art Meets Matter Limited regarding copyright in innovative designs including Penguin Book Title Mugs and “Christine Keeler Chairs”
