FSI have long been known for their work for museums, rights organisations, collecting societies, dealers and artists. Individuals, private and public bodies turn to the team for advice on tax and funding, commercial arrangements, protection and promotion of their intellectual property rights, provenance and clearing of title, employment issues and property matters. FSI are also regularly asked to advise on the recovery of stolen and looted items of cultural property.
Aboriginal remains fight resolved
The remains of 17 Aborigines have been returned by the Natural History Museum in London to Tasmania. A lengthy dispute over Australian Aboriginal remains held at the Natural History Museum in London has now been resolved. Tasmanian officials and the museum agreed that the remains would be returned after limited tests had been conducted. FSI acted for the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre in this dispute and the work of Mark Stephens, Pia Sarma and the rest of the team was crucial in ensuring this resolution.
