FSI's full service property department also has a stand alone planning team. Head of team, Jacqueline Backhaus has been working with developers on planning applications for the past decade, and is able to advise on all aspects of the planning lifecycle.

 

OUR SERVICE:

  • Menu approach available - can be used in conjunction with rest of FSI property team or as a stand alone resource (working in partnership with other existing advisors) 
  • Can have hands-on role during the application process or simply provide pre-submission screening to ensure application moves quickly to a successful resolution
  • Extensive track record in planning appeals and solid win rate
  • Like all FSI partners and heads of departments, the planning team have an approachable and friendly style combined with a bottom-line approach 

RECENT EXPERIENCE ADVISING:

  • on a number of S106 Agreements for major mixed used schemes in the Thames Gateway
  • Havering College of Further & Higher Education regarding the promotion of a site surplus to requirements through the Local Development Framework Core Strategy. This will carry through to public inquiry
  • on a challenge to the LDS (Lower Lea Valley, Olympic & Legacy) Compulsory Purchase order 2006 via public inquiry and the new lodging of High Court proceedings against the confirmed Order
  • Associated British Ports in relation to 400 new homes in Fleetwood. S106 agreement and associated work use and infrastructure

OUR PEOPLE:

Team headed by Jacqueline Backhaus who deals with all strategic planning issues as well as the firm’s contractual planning and inquiry work.  Jacqueline has:

  • a track record in all planning matters including negotiating planning applications, handling appeals on a wide variety of development schemes, dealing with strategic land use planning and negotiating complex planning, highways and related agreements
  • particular expertise in compulsory purchase and compensation matters and enforcement issues
  • strong advocacy skills: Jacqueline regularly undertakes advocacy at public inquiries for both private clients and local authorities
