ACCESS ALL AREAS: Opening up the Family Courts in England and Wales
The Attorney General, Jack Straw, has announced that the secrecy of the family courts, in which close to 95,000 cases are heard in private every year, is to end. With a few exceptions, from April 2009, accredited media will be granted access as of right to all levels of the Family Court system, including divorce proceedings and allied financial proceedings.
