Susie Al-Qassab
Solicitor: Employment
Susie undertakes a range of employment work including;
- drafting and reviewing contracts of employment, consultancy agreements, staff handbooks, policies and procedures
- advising on and managing collective and individual redundancy procedures and changes to contractual terms
- bringing and defending discrimination claims and unfair dismissal claims in the Employment Tribunal
- handling disciplinary, grievance and retirement procedures
- advising on commercial settlements and compromise agreements
Susie has a particular interest in the operation of a-typical working arrangements (casual workers, independent contractors etc.) and issues of employment status.
Susie is a member of the Construction, Charities and Design & Marketing Teams offering industry-specific employment advice in these areas.
Susie spent several years working in market research for a leading multi-national consumer goods company and is developing specialist employment law products and expertise tailored to the needs of market research agencies.
The first of these products is the Health Check which is 360° review and optimisation of an agency’s employment practices (contracts, policies, procedures etc.)

- Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, consultancy agreements and policies for mid-size companies in the UK with a range of job types and working conditions
- Successfully advising UK and international employers on formulating and running individual redundancy processes to achieve commercial objectives and minimise claim risk
- Advising employer and employee clients on sex and disability discrimination, bullying and harassment, and unfair dismissal, including drafting solicitors letters, grievance letters and appeals, negotiating commercial settlement terms and bringing/defending claims in the Employment Tribunal

Susie runs a regular one-day seminar for corporate members of the Market Research Society called 'Employment Law: Are You Getting it Right?'. She is also a contributor to the FSI Employment Team’s e-alerts, breakfast seminars and briefing notes.
Random Fact
Susie loves scuba, and most recently dived the Blue Hole in Belize with lots of sharks!
