Sue is head of litigation at FSI - overseeing the commercial litigation, IP media and family teams. Sue has 20 years experience in all aspects of commercial litigation for Claimants and Defendants, with particular expertise in:

  • emergency relief procedures (i.e. Search and Seizure Orders, Freezing Injunctions and Restraint Orders)
  • asset tracing and money laundering
  • high value and sensitive commercial litigation cases including fraud-related matters, wrongful/fraudulent trading, misfeasance, deceit and breach of fiduciary duty
  • joint venture disputes
  • directors' disqualification,
  • restraint and confiscation proceedings
  • costs disputes
  • insolvency litigation
  • regulatory enforcement related litigation 
  • sport related matters including contractual representation and disputes (including challenges for restraint of trade) and representation at disciplinary/regulatory hearings

Sue is a member of Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers Association, the London Solicitors Litigation Association, the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Lawyers and the Women's Fraud Association.

Recent Work
  • Executive disputes: acting in multi-million pound claim in relation to a hostile earn-out dispute on behalf of Executive Vendors resulting in a speedy and very satisfactory resolution.
  • Civil fraud: acting for various Defendants in civil fraud proceedings in many industries, including the property, construction and pharmaceutical sectors, in claims running to many millions of pounds.
  • Insolvency: acting for Defendant in insolvency proceedings concerning allegations of breach of fiduciary duty, breach of trust, secret commission, misappropriation of funds and related matters; and in his claim against the Liquidator in relation to commission payments due to him. The matter was resolved following a two day mediation. Also handling the Directors' Disqualification proceedings which are ongoing.
  • Commercial disputes: Acting for office supply company in relation to proceedings brought by international manufacturer of office consumables in relation to alleged trading with counterfeit goods. Successfully concluded following negotiations.
  • Sport: Representation of client's interests at FIA World Motor Sport Council; Dealing with various regulatory and disciplinary matters in the Sports arena, including a Court of Appeal case National Greyhound Racing Club v Thomas Flaherty which challenged the decision of a sports governing body in relation to a doping allegation; advice in connection with other doping issues for various athletes and sports persons including obtaining the dismissal of charges against an individual charged with a doping offence at an international sporting event which was heard before the Conseil de Prevention et de Lutte Contre le Dopage in Paris.  Also advises various drivers, managers, teams, sponsors and motorsport event/competition organisers on rules and regulations, contractual negotiations and disputes.
