Simon specialises in UK tax planning for both UK and non-UK domiciled clients, with a particular emphasis on the use of trusts (in the UK and offshore) as an effective structure for tax mitigation.
Simon also advises on Wills and estate planning, charities and Court of Protection work.
He is a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians and the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
Recent Work
- Advising clients about changes to Wills and trusts in light of the changes to the inheritance tax regime for trusts introduced in the Finance Act 2006
- Advising a non-UK domiciled client regarding a UK property investment and setting up a holding structure to avoid inheritance tax and capital gains tax
- Acting for the administrator of an estate in relation to a substantial claim in the Jersey court against the trustees of an offshore trust

Simon has recently given seminars to law firms and trust companies in Jersey, Switzerland and Liechtenstein to explain the impact of the Finance Act 2006 on the use of trusts.
