Minel studied Law at the London School of Economics before completing her LPC at the College of Law. After completing the LPC, Minel took part in some voluntary work with the Asian Women’s Resource Centre.
Minel joined FSI as a trainee in September 2008.
SEATS COMPLETED
Minel completed her first seat in the private client department. Recent work in the private client department includes the administering of estates from start to finish, drafting of Wills, Codicils, Trust Declarations and researching and assisting with trust, probate, tax, partnership and charity issues.
Minel completed her second seat in our property department and worked for a range of clients from property developers, companies to individuals. Her work involved drafting licences, leases, lease reports and negotiated clauses in leases. She also checked the validity of Section 25 Notices and responded to Section 40 Notices. Minel also carried out post completion work, calculated the Stamp Duty Land Tax payable and dealt with the registration of documents at the Land Registry.
Minel's third seat was in the commercial litigation department. She carried out a variety of work including research, drawing up cost schedules and reviewing documents for disclosure. Minel attended several client meetings and conferences with Counsel and also drafted documents including instructions to Counsel and Part 36 Offers. Minel assisted in drafting an article called "Derivative Claims & recent case law" and provided updates relating to Financial Service Authority's Final Notices. Minel also worked on some debt collection matters. This involved writing letters before claim, drafting forms, including claim forms and issuing them, liaising with enforcement officers and negotiating settlement.
Minel is now in her last seat in Corporate.
Random Fact
Minel enjoys travelling and has recently been to Thailand, Cambodia, Hong Kong, New York, Egypt , Kenya and Cuba. Minel also has a love for ice-cream.
