In various sections of this website we have detailed where we see our business going, the sort of work we do, the clients we advise and how we treat our people. In this section we attempt to give you an insight into life at FSI - should you be a potential recruit or a client, you may be interested to learn of some of the things that go on behind the scenes…

Look closer
For those of you who are familiar with FSI News you might think presenting it is easy.  Well think again.  Take a look at this clip and see what hard work, between the fits of giggles, it really is.

Long-term relationships

In a culture where long-term relationships are increasingly rare, FSI is delighted that we have a large body of employees who have chosen to develop their careers with us over a number of years. Aside from partners, Philip Mitchell (Practice Director), Karen Meller (Facilities Manager), Sharon Parsons (Personnel Officer), Maggie Harding (Marketing/DMC) Pauline Parker, Sally Lewis, Gill Godsell, Dot Dawes, Linda Mercer, Enda McManus, Rita Shortern-Rule (Secretaries) have all been with the firm for more than 15 years. Many of the partners claim they will retire when their secretary does!

Media savvy

Do you expect to see a lawyer in your bedroom when you’re on holiday? Should you choose to have a lie-in and watch TV on holiday it is a distinct possibility that you could see an FSI lawyer pop up on screen! At FSI our media pundits across the firm have international reach and are much sought after TV and radio commentators. View In the Media to see some of the topics we have recently commented on.

Personal touch

One of the best things about working in an environment where everyone knows each other is the level of personal touches.  Facilities Manager, Karen Meller, makes sure every key birthday or occasion is marked appropriately with balloons, champagne and cake! The whole firm tends to cram itself around the individual’s desk to pass on their good tidings.

Play together, stay together

This is a firm that supports social activities - in brief, some of the things we do together include:

  • lunch together on a monthly basis
  • have breakfast together if we're in early on a Monday morning
  • take part in the activities organised (for free) by the firm’s entertainment committee (FX), these have included in the past twelve months: a bingo night, quiz night, treasure hunt, wine appreciation (and consumption) course and karaoke night

Shiatsu

Every week a meeting room is put aside for Shiatsu massage - our practitioner has built up a regular and loyal clientele from within the firm.
